Why are the public being offered free Boilers & Insulation?
This is part of a government scheme called ECO, this stands for Energy Company Obligation, it has been running since 2013 and previously there was a similar scheme in place called warm front which ran from 2002.
Okay, so what is it?
This an obligation the utility companies have to meet through carbon savings (carbon saved by energy saving measures being installed in houses), they are set yearly.
We are currently in ECO 3 which is this time around a 3.5 year scheme to run till 2022.
Why is it free for the general public?
This was brought about because of fuel poverty and in some instances where people could not afford to put their in-efficient heating on in their houses, there have been instances of illness due to the cold weather so the scheme was brought in to prevent this.
When does it end?
The utilities companies have an obligation to meet which is called Eco energy company obligation the scheme is to run till 2022. However, due to the nature of the scheme, and the fact that energy companies are trying to meet their obligations, it stands to reason that if they meet their quota half way through a year, they are unlikely to keep providing free boilers and insulation for everybody. How do the schemes work?
There are 2 kinds of funding Affordable warmth/ Hhcro and LA flex
– I’ll discuss Hhcro (Home Heating Cost Reduction Obligation) first, so this consists of certain benefits qualifying for energy measures, quite recently this has been broadened quite significantly meaning a lot more people can benefit from the energy saving measures
– LA (flex local authority flex) in certain areas there is funding specifically allocated to that area, the main difference is you do not need to be any sort of benefit whatsoever, in the section below you can see if we have the correct funding for your area
Who is eligible?
Eligibility is down to either being on an eligible benefit (please see our checker) or living in an area that has LA Flex Funding

How long will the installer take to come?
After we confirm your eligibility:
- We will contact you via phone, text or email
- We will arrange a free energy survey which takes around 30 minutes
- We will confirm the measures we can do and the process of the installation will be fully explained too
- We will then arrange an install date
- Generally the install is arranged between 1-2 weeks
- Most installs are completed in a day some that are more extensive like external wall insulation and internal wall insulation are longer but this too will be explained
What will they do once they come?

Loft Insulation:
Why you may need loft insulation and maybe not even realise it?
A lack of loft insulation is similar to walking outside on a cold day without a hat on, the house will lose lots of heat approximately 25%! With insulation in the loft, you will save (depending on property type) £70-£250 a year, but more importantly it will make your home more comfortable in colder periods.
Free Loft Insulation:
Loft insulation = insulation that will equal 270mm depth that will be rolled by insulation experts in the loft area of your house, approximate time is around 2-4 hours dependent on the size of your home.

Cavity Wall Insulation:
Why would someone need cavity wall insulation and maybe not even realise it?
An un-insulated wall will make not only your gas bills high, but also make your boiler work harder than it needs to, an empty cavity can lose as much as 25% -30% of heat also costing you dependent on house type around £460 per year!
Free Cavity Wall Insulation:
Cavity wall insulation = the property cavity will be filled with BBA inta carbon saving bead, the process is a uniform line of small drill holes made around 10mm and the bead injected right to the top of the property, the holes will be filled and we will paint them were required with paint supplied half a day to day dependent on the size of the property

Boilers:
Why might you need a new boiler and not even realise it!
Old boilers could be as in-efficient as 65% whereas new boilers are 95%+ saving you on average £350 a year, also an old boiler can be costly if parts go as they tend to be obsolete or in short supply.
Free New Boiler:
Free New Boiler Package = we will remove old boiler and fit a new A rated Ideal boiler, this will come with new wireless room thermostat and programmer and 60% of the radiators will have thermostatic radiator valves fitted, we will chemically clean the system and the boiler will come with a 2 year manufacturers warranty. This will take approx a day to do.

Internal Wall insulation:
Why would someone need internal wall insulation and maybe not even realise it?
An un-insulated wall will make not only your gas bills high, but also make your boiler work harder than it needs to, walls can lose as much as 25% -30% of heat also costing you dependent on house type around £460 per year!
Free Internal Wall Insulation:
Internal wall insulation = this is installed in solid wall properties or timber framed where cavity wall insulation cannot be fitted, the process is when insulation is fitted to the walls, then boarded and skimmed all services are also amended in the job for instance sockets etc, this would usually take between 3-5 days dependent on the size.

External Wall insulation:
Why would someone need external wall insulation and maybe not even realise it?
An un-insulated wall will make not only your gas bills high, but also make your boiler work harder than it needs to, walls can lose as much as 25% -30% of heat also costing you dependent on house type around £460 per year!
Free External Wall Insulation:
External wall insulation = this process is carried out in solid brick or timber properties where cavity wall insulation is not an option , this will require scaffolding being erected ( in most instances covered in the job) the walls have a insulation board fixed all the way round then a silicone render is added to the boards this can vary on how long the job takes approx 3-5 days.

Electric Heaters:
Why would someone need electric heaters and maybe not even realise it?
Old storage heaters are massively inefficient, newer ones now are high retention and a lot more efficient, whilst also being able to now time when the heaters come on.
Free Electric Heaters:
New high retention storage heaters = we will take away your old big storage heaters and fit brand new high retention storage heaters which will be far more efficient and come with time controls 1-2 days dependent on house type.

What do I need to do? (Will I need to take a day off work etc)
For the work to be carried out we would need somebody there , but this can be yourself a family member or friend we will always arrange the job so it works best for yourself
What happens afterwards?
All our insulation work is covered by CIGA and carries a 25 year guarantee!
Boilers are covered with a 2 year warranty the workmanship is 1 year.
